Vehicle Details

Performance and Fuel Efficiency

The Forester is equipped with a punchy 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER 4-cylinder engine, delivering 180 hp @ 5,800 rpm and 178 lb-ft torque @ 3,700 rpm. Its symmetrical all-wheel drive with X-MODE® enhanced control and Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with 8-speed manual mode provide an agile driving experience. With an estimated fuel economy of 25 MPG city / 32 MPG highway, the Forester strikes a good balance between power and efficiency.

The CR-V boasts a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine under the hood for 190 hp @ 6,000 rpm and 179 lb-ft torque @ 1,700 – 5,000 rpm. For the drivetrain, we have 2WD (AWD optional) and CVT. With an estimated 28 MPG city / 33 MPG highway, the CR-V is a sensible option when considering fuel efficiency.

Altogether, both the Forester and CR-V are more than serviceable performers in most environments.

Driver Assist and Safety Features

The Subaru Forester is equipped with an impressive package of safety features. Standard driver-assistance features include pre-collision braking, lane departure and sway warning, advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering, blind spot detection and more.

The Honda CR-V is no slouch either in terms of safety. The CR-V comes with a driver assist package that includes collision and road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist, and more.

Interior and Infotainment

If you prefer a comfortable, straightforward interior that is well-equipped but not distracting, you’ll probably like the Forester. Inside you’ll find a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, transmission paddle shifters, water-repellent StarTex® upholstery and up to 69.1 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat lowered. The infotainment system features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, SiriusXM® Travel Link®, HD Radio®, Bluetooth® audio streaming and hands-free phone connectivity, and all the conveniences you’ve come to expect from a well-equipped vehicle.

There is also plenty to like about the CR-V’s interior. With a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and up to 76.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat down, comfort shouldn’t be an issue. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, Bluetooth® and more make for a respectable infotainment setup.

Conclusion

Subaru is known for making extremely capable, safe, and reliable vehicles at a reasonable price point. The 2026 Subaru Forester lives up to the reputation. The 2026 Honda CR-V is also a well-rounded option. Both are excellent, but in our opinion, the Subaru Forester pulls out ahead.
